About The Science Edu

Twelve years of teaching, written in small batches.

We started in 2013 with twelve students in a single Raniganj classroom. Twelve years on, we are four branches and 500+ students — but our core stayed the same: a teacher who knows your child's name.

Founder

An engineer who teaches because teaching is the work he wanted.

Mr. Deepak K. Modi graduated from NIT Durgapur with a B.Tech in engineering. Like most NIT alumni of his cohort, he had multiple paths open. He chose to teach — and, more specifically, to teach students in West Bengal sitting where he had sat a few years earlier.

The Science Edu opened in Raniganj in 2013 with twelve students. The first batch was small enough that he learnt every student's name on day one. He has held that as a standard ever since: every classroom is capped at 40, and every teacher in the institute is expected to know every student in the room.

What separates The Science Edu from larger national chains is not facilities or marketing. It is the conviction that coaching is one teacher, one batch, one chapter — done with attention. Everything else is a consequence of that.

“Every student arrives with the same blank page. What separates the topper from the rest is not talent — it is the hundredth solved problem, the question asked at the end of class, the test reviewed twice.”
— Mr. Deepak K. Modi, Founder
Mission

Three principles, twelve years.

§ 01

Teach the chapter, not the syllabus.

Coverage is easy. Comprehension is the work. Every chapter is taught until the batch is ready for a test on it — not on a fixed date in a calendar.

§ 02

Forty students, never more.

A class of 40 is the upper bound where a teacher can still hear every voice. We do not run batches larger than that. Ever.

§ 03

Stay where the students are.

Raniganj, Belghoria, Kolkata, Malda — local centres, local timing, local language support. Coaching that doesn't ask the family to move.
